Top 10 Surf Etiquette:
Rules Every Beginner Must Know
1. 🏄♂️ Right of Way Goes to the Closest Surfer to the Peak
Whoever is deeper (closer to where the wave starts breaking) has the wave.
2. 🚫 Don’t Drop In
If someone is already riding the wave, back off. Taking off in front of them is dangerous.
3. 🌀 Paddle Wide, Not Through the Lineup
When paddling back out, avoid the path where people are surfing. Go around.
4. 🤫 No Wave-Hogging
Share the waves. Don’t dominate every set or keep paddling for everything. Give others a turn.
5. 💬 Communicate Clearly
Call your wave with a simple “Going left!” or “Right!” when it’s busy.
6. 🏄♀️ Hold Onto Your Board
Always control your board. Letting it fly can injure someone and wreck your reputation.
7. 🤙 Be Cool, Not Competitive
It’s not a contest. Respect others, smile, and keep the vibe positive.
8. 👀 Know Your Limits
Don’t paddle out to a break that’s too advanced for you. It’s not just risky—it puts others in danger.
9. 🌊 Respect the Locals
You’re visiting their break. Be humble, polite, and let the vibe guide you.
10. 🧹 Leave No Trace
Pick up trash and respect the ocean and beach. Real surfers take care of their playground.
