Who Is 360 Surf School Cancun?
As part of the 360 Adventure Group family, 360 Surf School Cancun is led by founder, competitive Surfer and lifelong waterman David Michael Wanamaker — a Canadian-born surfer who grew up on the island of Barbados, where the ocean became his playground and surfing his defining passion.
For more than 25 years, David has shared the exhilaration of riding waves with students from around the world, believing that surfing is more than a sport — it’s an experience that connects you to nature, builds confidence, and transforms how you see the ocean.
After moving to Mexico in 2000, David opened the first 360 Surf Shop in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, home to some of the world’s most powerful and iconic waves. A decade later, he brought the brand to Cancun, reopening 360 Surf School in 2010 and shaping it into the region’s most trusted surf experience. His mission has stayed consistent: teach surfing with authenticity, passion, and a deep respect for the ocean.
Today, 360 Surf School is supported by a hand-picked team of seasoned instructors — each rigorously trained and certified by the Cancun Surf Association and Protección Civil. This ensures every lesson is delivered in a safe, professional environment while offering the personalized coaching that has defined 360 Surf School for over 15 years.
